“Prose is architecture, not interior decoration…” –said by Ernest Hemingway, a profound influence on my writing (I think). I’m feel like I’m understanding what that quote really means now, and I’m becoming more conscious of how I compose scenes and I imagine them like scenes in films, because I watch so many films. It’s all really coming together, and writing has been a constant process of discovery for me. I haven’t even been writing that long. It’s been about four years, and I think I’m learning a lot just through reading as much as possible and self-teaching. Some of the greats didn’t go to school, or didn’t have much schooling. I don’t think you can teach creative process.
