Inspiration to write comes from many things, it’s hard to say where it really does come from. “It just came to me…” Some say that story is a well-told lie. Few will admit that their content resulted from careful procurement of diction and careful evaluations. It could be a thought, a scene, an experience, or even a dream that inspired them.
Whatever the story may be of your inspiration, not just for writing fiction, but anything, keep it. Don’t tell anyone. It belongs to you, the artist, and only the artist deserves to know the mysteries of his or her inspiration. Others will only take it and rip it apart, dismiss it, and after that it no longer belongs to the artist. It’s the one thing the artist gets to keep. Secrets are important to us, which is why they are such. Let people read the result of inspiration, whether on a page, your style of walk, or dance. It’s your art form. It sometimes feels like it comes from nothing … now we call all explain existence and the universe.
